Background Investigator

The Nuclear Background Investigation Department provides accurate and timely background investigations to our Nuclear Energy clients. Essential skills for this position require attention to detail, the ability to follow procedures, and communication skills. A successful candidate will have a working knowledge of computer and internet best practices.

Hiring Season/Working Schedule

Spring positions begin in early January and run through mid-April.

Fall positions begin in early August and run through mid-November.

** Time frames may vary for each hiring season, and we begin our hiring process about a month before the position is due to start

The typical working schedule is Monday – Friday. Shifts range from 5:00 AM – 7:00 PM depending on the staffing needs. Overtime and weekends will be required based on work volume. Starting pay: $16.00/hour

 

Job Description

This is an in-office position. The employee may be assigned to a team with different job responsibilities and duties based on skills and/or qualifications. All positions will require training to support other teams which include, but are not limited to, telephone communications, computer data entry, and editing/reviewing work per regulation standards.

Team descriptions are below.

Verification Team: The verification team has primary responsibility for the processing of the nuclear background reports. This individual will conduct phone interviews with employers, schools, military personnel, and references, as well as recording and detailed documentation of calls, compile notes and summaries in a clear, concise, and logical manner, documenting and resolve inconsistencies, and evaluate data. This individual should be able to handle numerous tasks simultaneously and perform detailed self-reviews of completed work.

Review Team: The review team is responsible for assessing all completed reports for accuracy and compliance, documenting errors, and ensuring the best quality product is sent to our clients. It requires strong attention to detail and analytical skills to identify discrepancies and ensure all requirements are satisfied. This individual should have the ability to stay focused and maintain a high degree of accuracy; and should have knowledge of correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar to accurately proofread, edit and revise documents.

Data Team: The data team is responsible for entering nuclear applications and faxes into our database software. This team provides the groundwork for our reporting process. Attention to detail and accuracy are critical to this position.

Requirements

Education & Experience

High School Diploma or GED

Preferred areas of experience: Data Entry, Customer Service, Administrative, and Editing.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required

  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Must demonstrate extreme attention to detail and the capability for handling numerous tasks.
  • Display competent computer skills including web navigation, knowledge of basic computer file management and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), as well as the operation of common office equipment.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills to solve problems, and perform self-directed tasks within required time-frames.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
  • Ability to quickly adapt and implement new procedures, policies, and processes. These may include but are not limited to, governmental/industry regulations, client-specific requirements, and adhere to documentation requirements.
  • Work in a fast-paced, high-stress, time-critical environment.
  • Receive and implement constructive feedback.
